![]() ![]() Having lived in Germany in the 1980's I know that there is a huge difference between finding an empty road and accelerating to 130 mph and then slowing down vs. ![]() At the end of the day, there are few places left in the Northern Hemisphere that you can drive at sustained speeds over 90-100 mph. Outside of Germany, I would say that you can travel at a higher average speed in the Western US than in any place in Europe because there is so much less traffic and now Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming are posted at 80 mph (also western Texas). I was in Italy this past summer and noted that both traffic cameras and driving times on toll roads, like the Autostrada are used to enforce limits. There has been no increase in fatalities. I live in Idaho and we just raised the speed limit to 80 mph or 130 kph for those in Europe. You can't sustain very high speeds anymore ![]()
